**What is Ionic Silver?**
Ionic silver is a clear, aqueous solution containing positively charged silver ions (Ag?) generated by electrolysis. High-purity silver electrodes are immersed in distilled water and a low electrical current is applied, releasing silver ions into the water. The result is a solution of dissolved silver ions rather than a suspension of metallic silver particles.

This differs from true colloidal silver, which consists of tiny metallic silver nanoparticles held in suspension and is typically produced by more complex laboratory or industrial processes. Many products historically labeled “colloidal silver” are in fact predominantly ionic silver made by electrolysis. Ionic silver solutions are normally clear and colorless; the presence of a yellow or amber tint usually indicates the presence of larger metallic particles.

**History of the use of silver**
Silver has been used for its antimicrobial properties for thousands of years, primarily in external and hygienic applications. Ancient civilizations (including the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, and Persians) stored water, wine, and other liquids in silver vessels to help preserve them. Hippocrates is recorded as using silver preparations on ulcers and wounds.

In later centuries, silver nitrate was applied topically to burns, chronic wounds, and ulcers. Surgeons used silver foil and silver sutures to reduce infection risk in wounds. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, silver compounds were employed in burn care and as topical antiseptics. In the 1960s, silver nitrate solutions and later silver sulfadiazine creams became established in medical burn-wound management. These historical and modern medical uses have centered on external application to the skin and wounds.

**Potential benefits (external / skin-care use)**
Silver ions are known for their antimicrobial activity against a range of bacteria. In modern practice, silver compounds and silver-containing materials appear in certain wound dressings, burn treatments, and some skin-care or hygiene products for their cleansing and surface antimicrobial properties.

This ionic silver suspension is offered solely for external skin-care use. It is not presented as a treatment for any medical condition. Individual results with topical silver preparations vary, and this product is not a substitute for professional medical care.

**Caution**
- For external use only. Do not ingest or use internally.
- Not a medicine. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and open wounds unless directed by a qualified professional.
- Discontinue use if redness, irritation, or any adverse reaction occurs.
- Chronic or excessive internal exposure to silver can lead to argyria (permanent blue-gray discoloration of the skin); this product is not for internal use.
- Store in the original dark glass container, tightly closed, protected from light.
- Keep out of reach of children.
